MEET WILLIE...

MEET WILLIE...

Minimize

Willie is 16 years old and is a thoughtful caring member of our family.  He is a very wise old soul and has a way of making life better every minute you spend with him.  He is "to smart for his own good" and has a way of knowing exactly what you need.  He is now a senior citizen and special care must be taken when we travel.  While he does not have as much energy as he once did, he would not miss the adventure.  We know our time remaining with Willie is limited and we are thankful for every moment we have.

ORIGIN OF DOG DAYS...

Minimize

The idea of "dog days' originates from the constellation, Canis Major.  In Latin, Canis Major translates to "greater dog" and it contains Sirius, most notible as the brightest star in the night sky and also known as the "dog star."

In ancient Europe, Canis Major was associated with dogs and Sirius, also known as the "scorching star," since the summer heat occurs just after Sirius is first spotted on the horizon for the new year signified the beginning of summer. The ancient Greeks referred to this time in the summer as dog days, as only dogs would be adventure out in the heat, leading to the star being known as the Dog Star.  Consequently, the constellation was named after it.

MEET WAYLON...

MEET WAYLON...

Waylon is almost two and has proven to be the most dynamic dog.  His personalty is....well...a trip.  He gets mad when he does not get his way and has a way of vocalizing his displeasure in the most hysterical ways.  We adopted Waylon from a local shelter when he was only eight weeks old, far to young to be away from his momma, and we knew as soon as we laid eyes on him that he was meant for us.  Waylon is a little less trusting of the world, however, and traveling with him must be done with care and consideration of his temperment.  He loves to travel, though, and he is always excited to experience new things.

Follow Waylon in Waylon's World.... (coming soon).
